The city of Manhattan, Kansas, with a population of about 50,000 is located in northeastern Kansas, edging the Kansas River about an hour west of Topeka.
Home to Kansas State University with its 23,000 students, Manhattan is a young thriving city. Founded in 1858, K-State's 664-acre campus is one of the Manhattan's main attractions and is home to Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and the KSU McCain Auditorium.
